Field Service Technician
Better Engineering is actively looking for a field service technician to join the team to take care of our clients’ equipment while working in the field. This position requires someone who has excellent communication skills, is able to work independently, and pays attention to detail.
What you will be doing
- You will be a key part of a technical service team that provides on-site and telephone support to customers.
- You will travel to customer locations in the USA and possibly internationally to install new equipment, perform on-site training, repairs, and maintenance on Better Engineering washers
- This position comes with an expectation to travel 75% of the time (3 out of 4 weeks in a month) with all travel expenses paid. If you are not traveling you will be assisting in the testing and production departments as needed and/or attending service related meetings
- Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches
- Tie workflow to schedule
- Lead during an on-site installation, any repair requests, maintenance requests or test tasks
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
- Produce timely and detailed service reports
- Account for all parts utilized
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to re-assemble and install equipment
- Diagnose complex technical problems and perform on-site repair.
- Examine machines both mechanically and electrically, perform repairs by dismantling machines and rebuilding mechanically and electrically.
- Perform software updates on HMI and PLC
- Effectively interpret schematics and block diagrams to analyze and troubleshoot problem products.
- Document in detail product problems and resolutions
QUALIFICATIONS:
- US work authorization – Required
- Vaccination(s) for COVID – Required
- High school or equivalent – Preferred
- College degree – Optional
- Programmable logic controller (PLC) experience: 1 year is Preferred
- Mechanical experience: 3-5 years (Preferred)
- Welding experience is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with MS Office products – Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate with clients via phone, email, and in person
- Must possess a valid, clean driver license
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a working knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Competent skills in reading schematics, using test equipment, basic PLC logic to diagnose problems
- Proficient with AC and DC control circuits, sensors, switches, relays, timers, and fusing.
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems
- Skilled in electrical measurement and inspection techniques using a voltmeter and other types of measurement equipment devices

WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is Full-Time working a minimum of 40 hours per week Monday – Friday.
Overtime is possible if work week extends past 40 hours and/or work is performed on weekends as needed. Willingness to travel is about 75 percent.
