Automated
Cleaning System
Designed for
Robotic Load and
Unloading

BACKGROUND
The customer specializes in totally automatic machining of large pieces such as the one shown in the picture below (24" dia x 6"h....50 lbs).

PROBLEM
Design a cleaning system that can accept the aforementioned part from a robot, thoroughly wash and dry the part, hand the part back to the robot, and do all this in just three (3) minutes...lastly, the part had to exit the cleaning system such that the part temperature is 70-80°F.

SOLUTION
Design a spray washer with an automatic guillotine door and a fixture that is powered in and out of the cleaning chamber. Once the part is inside the cleaning chamber, it oscillates back and forth through the spray jets and air curtains...there isn't time to shut-of the pumps and blowers/instead, the water and air flows are shunted to, or away from, the cleaning chamber with automatic valves.

SYSTEM
Better Engineering's RTO-2000 (return-to-operator) system...designed for robotic loading, +/- 15/1000's of an inch tolerance...the width is minimized and all controls, gauges, and daily functions can be seen/accessed from the front or back.
