Background
This ISO-9002 certified company is a subsidiary of a large electric cooperative located in the southwest. They are manufacturing various single phase transformer components for both the pole-mount and pad-mount designs.
 Problem
An old fiberglass belt washer was being used to clean these high voltage bushing wells which were 14” long, 1 1/4” I.D., 2 1/4” O.D. and weighed approx. 2 lbs. This unit was not removing the machining oils or the molding debris on these parts due to the spray zones being too small. Any contamination left on these parts would mean contaminating the entire 10 gallons of transformer oil in a new transformer… requiring draining and flushing… costing valuable time and money. It was also taking up valuable shop space. A batch load system with a small footprint was required that could wash, rinse and dry 300 bushing wells per hour.
Solution/System
A SS F-4000-P equipped with a custom fixture holding 50 bushing wells per batch to be loaded standing up. With a cycle time of 10 minutes, 100% clean and dry parts were achieved. Additional options: SS ARC-22 recirculating rinse, heated blow-off, and an ILF-22 micron filter.
