BACKGROUND
Founded in the early 1900’s, this privately owned, east coast steel producer had been using solvent tanks for cleaning. This was labor intensive, and the solvent exposure to the employees was quickly becoming an OSHA issue as well as a legal issue.
 PROBLEM
While the plant had several cleaning challenges the biggest was this: they needed to automatically clean the ends of 15 ft / 3,000 lb. rollers (the bearing ends), but couldn't justify the cost of a washer that could handle the entire roller.
SOLUTION/SYSTEM
Customize a T-5000-P jet washer (which they needed for smaller parts) to also handle the roller ends. A “window” was installed on the side of the washer. The customer lowered the 15 ft. long roller onto chocks and then slid the roller sideways so the dirty end went into the T-5000-P...another innovative solution by BE.
